Henry Jessey (1601-1663) served as an English Baptist pastor. "The year 1657 afforded Mr. Jessey a favourable opportunity of displaying his benevolence. The Swedes and Poles being engaged in war, the poor Jews at Jerusalem were in a most distressed state; all supplies from their rich brethren in other countries, upon whom they depended for subsistence, being cut off. This induced Mr. Jessey to raise a collection for their relief; and he sent them £300, with letters, strongly persuading them to embrace Christianity."
