The Fall of Samaria and the Assyrian Captivity of Israel are dated at 722BC. The destruction of Jerusalem and the Babylonian Captivity of Judah are dated at 586BC, 136 years later. Much of this chapter deals with the sins of the people of Israel that led to their judgment. The last part of the chapter deals with the sins of the people who continue to inhabit the land after the captivity. This chapter actually describes the beginning of the Samaritans who will show up again in the New Testament.
Since the first man Adam fell, man has been trying to hide his evil actions from God. The lesson teaches us that this is not only impossible but a foolish thought.
What would you do if I told you that there was someone that lived really close to you that was out to get your family? It’s not necessarily going to be an obvious attack but maybe a subtil one. It might even be so subtil that you may sit there and watch it happen and not even know that there has been an attack. Now, what would you do if I told you that most of the time the thing that is going to harm you may already be in your home? Tonight we want to take a look into the word of God at something that God hates but most Christians live with.
This lesson deals with the death of Moses and the end of his work on the earth. Joshua will lead the Israelites into the land of Canaan. Moses will only get to see the land before he dies.
The covenant of Moab deals more with the heart and the motive of love. We will look at one of the major provisions of the covenant and apply it to our lives.
