Introductory Thoughts
Christians frequently find it difficult to consistently make their practice align with their position in Christ. The saints of God are positionally blameless in Christ, but practically, each believer must strive daily to “be blameless and harmless . . . in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation.” In this world, believers represent the Lord as sons of God. As such, they should “do all things without murmurings and disputings.” Why is this so very important? The importance points to the fact that believers are to “shine as lights in the world.” It is imperative that every believer strives daily to live a godly life and preserves a godly testimony in a world that has little to no knowledge of God (Matthew 5:16).
Devotional Thoughts
-
(For children): Look at the testimony these men of God had with others: David (1 Samuel 29:3); Daniel (Daniel 6:4); John Baptist (John 5:33, 35); Enoch (Hebrews 11:5). We too should have a good testimony before others (1 Timothy 4:12).
-
(For everyone): Do you constantly bicker and complain about the conditions or circumstances of life? How does this affect the world? Are you blameless (practically speaking) when you do these things?
-
How are you the best chance this world has to see what true righteousness and holiness is? What happens when believers fail to present a godly example?
Prayer Thoughts
- Ask God to help you be blameless in the world.
- Ask the Lord to help you be a faithful servant for Him.
